Sketching is somewhat of a secret pleasure of mine. It's not something for which I've taken classes, nor is it something in which I've put hours upon hours studying the way I should. The problem with classes, and studying, is drawing would no longer become an escape, merely another chore with deadlines, expectations, and right and wrong. While I strive to be good at it, the only deadlines I want to worry about are getting to the next fun project, the only expectations I want to care about are my own, and the only wrong I want to deal with is what my eye perceives.
As this incarnation of my website is being written, the thing I enjoy sketching the most are portraits. There's something gratifying about finishing something and having the face be recognized by someone else. I've been increasing the range of items I sketch, but for now, all that I'm displaying are some portraits. Some I like, some I don't like - but I've placed them here regardless. In the near future, I'd like to do some cast portraits from the recent Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings adaptation, as well as some of the memorable characters of the TV series, M*A*S*H for my wife. When/if I do those, I'm sure they'll be viewable here.
