about me Me.
Yes, me.
What's so special about my life? Not much, but I'm going to tell you about it anyways. I was born in Houston, Texas on February 26th, 1978. I don't remember that part though, so I'm just taking the word of others as truth. My parents and I lived in Texas for a short while, and after a short stint in other locations, we ended up in Iowa. Yes, Iowa.
Monticello, Iowa was where I'd spend the next 7 years of my life, playing war with the local kids, and getting the start of my education. I also got a brother during that time, but I certainly don't remember asking for one for Christmas. The Shell chemical division where my father worked at the time was bought out by DuPont and all the employees were let go. At this time, guided by the voices in his head, he thought it would be a good idea to own a campground. So we bought one in Ohio. Yes, Ohio.
So that's the background on how I got this far, now for the details of more things you really don't care about. I've been in Ohio since then (15 years as I write this), and can't say it's a bad place to live. The weather is ok, we don't have earthquakes, we don't have hurricanes, and we have a college football team that is apparently worth flipping cars over and setting them on fire if we don't win. I finished the years of my non-college education at Highland school system, which didn't prepare me for college in the slightest. It ranked in the bottom 10 poorest schools in the state, and the range of classes and topics were very limited. I AM grateful for the teachers there, because they were some of the most devoted individuals I've ever known. I only wish we had the funding. So from there, I got my first taste of college life at Bowling Green State University of Ohio.
I met new friends, lived in a new place, and while growing up my parents always gave us plenty of freedom, this was a whole new ballgame. The taste of "living on my own" was enough to make me sign my life away for a crazy summer job doing door to door sales. Yes, I was that guy who knocked on your door and tried selling you study guides for you or your kids. And if I did talk to you, then it's a darn good chance you bought some. Thanks!
Sophomore year at college led me to this wonderful realization - computers are fun. While most people had been banging away on them for years and years, I was finally in a suite with someone who really knew what they were doing. I was a quick study, and before long we'd spend evenings playing games over the LAN, and talking in a language at which most people would just raise an eyebrow. I knew that biology was not where my desires really wanted to be, and after that year, I both changed majors and ran out of money.
So I needed a job, and while the thriving metropolis of Bowling Green could provide me with some great minimum wage job at McDonalds, I needed more money. So I talked to some old friends from high school, and got a job at Continental Office Environments in Columbus working with them. It was better than minimum wage, and became the stepping stone to get into something I was really interested in. I started working in the warehouse, and quickly became the person in charge of the asset management software for that building. When there was an opening in the IT department, I applied, and was hired.
I was new to the field at the time, so I was still a nice guy. It's funny how years of working support will change that in a person. I'm now anywhere from that nice guy that started to the bitter, cynical, sarcastic pain in the rear, depending on which day of the week you catch me. My job kind of covers the entire gamut of tasks; networking troubleshooting to hardware troubleshooting, software problems to printing problems, phone programming to phone answering. It's been a great experience and I've met some nice people from here.
Currently, I reside in Columbus, in the area we locals call Clintonville. I enjoy music of many kinds, video games, reading, paintballing, and playing with my two pets - Mandy the dog, and Jinx the cat. The most special thing in my life is my wife, Sarah. She and I met through her brother (See: the guy my Sophomore year who got me into computers) Ryan, and there hasn't been a moment where she hasn't been on my mind since. We were married on September 27th, 2003, and I couldn't be happier.
I'm still going to school when money and time allows, and I'm working on some small-time certifications in the IT field until I figure out just what the heck I want to do with my time. If you have any ideas or just want to hire me to play video games all day, please e-mail me.
I made this webpage for no real reason. I don't think in any way that this is or will be a popular place to hang out on the net, but it's my corner, and I'm going to do whatever I want with it. So look around, check back every so often for an update, and feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you're really that bored. Of course, I'll just laugh at you, but you're welcome to send it anyways.
